Use Cookie-free Domains Wordpress

Step 1: Identify Static Content

Static content includes assets such as:

• CSS files
• Images (.jpg, .png, .gif, etc.)
• JavaScript files
• Fonts

These resources can be served without cookies.

Step 2: Create a Subdomain

To create a cookie-free domain, you can set up a subdomain. For example, if your main domain is example.com, you can create a subdomain like static.example.com.

• Log in to your hosting control panel (e.g., cPanel).
• Go to the Subdomains section.
• Create a subdomain (e.g., static.example.com) and set its document root to the directory where your static files are stored.

Step 3: Configure the Subdomain to Be Cookie-Free

By default, cookies from the main domain are also sent to subdomains. To make your subdomain cookie-free:

• Edit your website’s .htaccess file or server configuration.
• Add the following lines to prevent cookies from being sent to the subdomain:

Step 4: Update Static File URLs

To serve static files from the new cookie-free domain:

• Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) that accepts cookie-free domains as an alternative. You can set up a custom subdomain for static resources with the majority of CDNs.

These resources can be served without cookies.

Step 5: Test Your Setup

Ensure everything is working as expected by testing your website:

• Use tools like GTmetrix or Google PageSpeed Insights to check performance improvements.
• Verify that static files are being served from the cookie-free subdomain.
