Both companies have dominated their respective businesses for more than a decade. They are well-known for being world-class companies<\/strong> that are meticulous in their pursuit of innovation and quality. Each has a plethora of tech industry knowledge that is nearly impossible to match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AWS now offers over 200 products and services<\/strong> in a variety of sectors, including computation (“hosting”), storage, networking, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Google Cloud<\/strong> may not offer as much variety as Amazon Web Services<\/strong>, it does offer over 100 different products and services that cover many of the same categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Here\u2019s how we\u2019ll break this down:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Compute \u2013 in layperson\u2019s terms, you could call this \u201chosting<\/strong>\u201d<\/li>

    • Networking \u2013 includes content delivery networks (CDN<\/strong>) and DNS<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          The exact difference will depend on the specific plan that you choose. But, in general, you\u2019ll notice that Compute Engine is normally more or less 15% cheaper than EC2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Pricing is simpler on Amazon Lightsail (the VPS offering). It starts at just $3.50 per month for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  Let’s take a look at the Google Cloud and AWS interfaces to wrap things off. This is probably not a big deal, but it will give you an idea of what it’s like to work at each service’s console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  But first, a quick summary\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  In terms of interfaces, most people will probably prefer Google Cloud for two reasons:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                    • AWS offers double <\/strong>the number of products and services that Google Cloud offers.<\/li>
                    • Google Cloud is generally cheaper <\/strong>than AWS \u2013 around 15% for common products, though it depends on which product you\u2019re looking at.<\/li>
                    • Both have similar <\/strong>global networks, though Google Cloud has a slightly larger <\/strong>number of regions.<\/li>
                    • AWS has a more generous <\/strong>free trial that lets you try many services free <\/strong>for up to a year.<\/li>
                    • Google Cloud\u2019s forever free <\/strong>plan is more generous for most users because it offers forever free options for Compute Engine and Cloud Storage.<\/li>
                    • Google Cloud has a nicer and more user-friendly<\/strong> interface.<\/li>
                    • AWS has a very beginner-friendly VPS offering in Lightsail<\/strong>, which isn\u2019t something Google Cloud offers.
